MNS Tapir Talks 8.0: Communities and Urban Forest
We’re pleased to bring you the first MNS Tapir Talks Public Forum Series session for 2021, themed “Communities and Urban Forest“, during the celebration of Urban Forest Day in conjunction with Federal Territories Day.
MNS Urban Community Forest Network at Bukit Persekutuan will be bringing together urban communities who are passionately conserving and managing the remaining backyard urban greeneries to this forum to share ideas and experiences for non-state actors in urban forest conservation. In line with the vision of Malaysia’s Garden Nation by 2020, Kuala Lumpur Low Carbon Society Blueprint 2030, the adoption of the New Urban Agenda during the 9th World Urban Forum 2018 and realising the importance of urban forests and the recognition of efforts of non-state actors to protect and ensure their continued existence, the Forum will showcase views and perspectives on urban forest contribution to urban communities.
Moderated by MNS President Prof Dr Ahmad Ismail, the panellists will be Hjh. Rotina Mohd Daik (Ketua Pengarah, Jabatan Landskap Negara), Thary Gazi Goh (Urban Biodiversity Initiative, Universiti Malaya), Ir. Dr. Kribanandan G. N. (Friends of Bukit Kiara), Shawn Kaihekulani Yamauchi Lum (Nature Society Singapore), Baida Jane Hercus (Free Tree Society) and Wong Ee Lynn (MNS Green Living SIG).
