World Firefly Day 2019 – Fireflyers International Network

We are very pleased to invite you to attend the World Firefly Celebration 2019 with Majlis Daerah Kuala Selangor held at Kampung Kuantan Firefly Park on 6th July 2019 (7th July for invited community only). The World Firefly Day (WffD) was conceived during the Taipei’s International Firefly Symposium in 2017, as a public awareness event and a conservation action day to celebrate the iconic insect around the world during the first week of July every year.
The objectives of organizing this event are as follow:-
- To raise awareness of the wetlands and fireflies in Kuala Selangor District, as well as the importance of protecting the wetlands wildlife and flora and water ecosystem.
- To educate and involve the communities and youths on firefly conservation
- To promote Kuala Selangor as an ecotourism destination.
No registration needed. The event is free and open to the public, however, there will be fees for activities payable to the local community. Exact charges on the activity will be confirmed on the event day. There will be a 20% discount for firefly watching on boat.
