What We Do

The Malaysian Nature Society’s work is centered around four thematic areas. From within these themes we are able to focus our contributions toward the achievement of our Strategic Plan’s objectives. MNS’ thematic areas of work are:

  • Science and Conservation
Spearheaded by the MNS’ Conservation initiatives, the aim is to secure the conservation of environmentally sensitive areas, key habitats and species in Malaysia.
  • Environmental Education
This area is championed by MNS’ Environmental Education initiatives and their key goals are to empower current and future generations of Malaysians to act for the protection of our natural heritage.
  • Communication & Fundraising
The Communications initiatives advocate for the effective dialogue between MNS and various corporate and individual partners as well as to raise the profile of MNS to every segment of society through resources such as our programmes and Publications.
  • Membership
MNS’ Services division champions our membership area and sees to effectively maintaining and growing membership resources of the Society.

In addition to this, MNS also manages six Parks & Centres throughout the country in collaboration with state governments and corporate partners.
The Conservation division within MNS sees to the effective management of existing protected areas as well as to establish new protected areas.
Our message of environmental conservation should not be restricted to our members only. This is why we established the Education initiatives to inculcate the love of nature in students and empower future generations to act in the protection of our natural legacy.
  Park & Centres
MNS has long believed that the public should be made aware of nature and conservation through experiential learning. Through this in-situ approach, MNS has established a number of nature education and field study centres at representative ecosystems.
